Assessment report of the legal framework affecting NGOs in the Republic of Cyprus

Measures to design the next steps of a longer-term reform process.

ECNL completed the assessment report of the legal and regulatory framework affecting NGOs in the Republic of Cyprus. In the analysis, ECNL reviewed the existing legal framework and provided suggestions for possible modifications and for measures in designing the next steps of a longer term reform process. The analysis is based on the legal and field research conducted in November, 2007. Thanks to the contributions of a wide range of stakeholders, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Planning Bureau and local NGOs, the report is the product of an inclusive, participatory assessment process. The assessment report was presented by Ms Nilda Bullain in Nicosia on May 20, 2008 at an event organized by the NGO Support Centre. The presentation was followed by a consultation session with NGOs.

The analysis was developed within the framework of the Cyprus Civil Society Strengthening Project of the United Nations Development Programme, Action for Cooperation and Trust (UNDP ACT).
