Discussions on the draft Law on Public Organisations in Armenia

The Chair of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs Elinar Vardanyan met with the representatives of Transparency International Anticorruption Center (TIAC) Heriknaz Tigranyan, Sona Ayvazyan and the representative of the ECNL Eszter Hartay.

 The meeting addressed the package of the Law on NGOs and the enclosed legislative amendments, presented their proposals in some provisions, which related to the right to being involved in the entrepreneurship activities of the NGOs, the article on volunteers, the possibility of applying to court, as well as the restrictions of creating NGOs. Elinar Vardanyan informed the attendees that the proposals were debated in the Committee. According to the Committee Chair, in the Committee members' opinion a number of recommendations were controversial and need to be specified. Thanking the participants for proposals Elinar Vardanyan has noted that they are ready to once again discuss the matter to have a package as a result, which will be admissible by the NGOs and will promote their activities.
