UNDP regional workshop on social entrepreneurship in Bratislava

The overall objective of the workshop was to increase capacity of practitioners from UNDP Country offices in the region on social and economic benefits of social enterprises.

UNDP Bratislava Regional Centre together with European Research Network EMES and European Research Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprises (EURICSE) hosted a Regional Workshop “Strengthening the Sustainability of Community-based Development through Social Entrepreneurship” in Bratislava on December 4, 2009. The overall objective of the workshop was to increase capacity of practitioners from UNDP Country offices in the region on social and economic benefits of social enterprises.

The event served as a forum to stimulate exchange of information and sharing of experiences in the area between UNDP practitioners and social entrepreneurs. The workshop was attended by 41 participants from 22 countries from Western Europe, CEE and the CIS including UNDP, IOM representatives, civil society organisations (foundations, think tanks, associations etc), public agencies, academia and private sector.

ECNL's Executive Director, Ms. Nilda Bullain delivered a presentation on "Enabling Environment for Social Enterprise: conducive CSO legislation and supporting effective engagement of CSOs in economic activities".
