Together with Transparency International and other consortium partners, ECNL worked on the USAID supported program on Promoting Transparency and Accountability through Advanced Civil Society Participation. ECNL was contributing to activities aimed at the improvement of civil society enabling environment and developing new mechanisms to promote greater CSO transparency and accountability to the public established in line with international best practices.
Armenia recently saw two positive changes to the legal framework regulating civil society. The new Law on Public Organizations allows CSOs to generate their own income from economic activities, and engage volunteers in their work. To ensure that local CSOs can best utilize the law, we prepared two user-friendly guides – one giving examples of how CSOs can engage in activities that help them generate own income and become more financially viable, and the other promoting good standards and practices of volunteering.
