The conference looked at European best practices and presented an alternative draft law on foundations.
In collaboration with the National Foundation for the Civil Society Development, G.O.N.G. and AED, ECNL hosted a conference on the enabling legal environment for foundations in Zagreb, Croatia, on May 8, 2006. The conference convened government officials, local and international legal experts, and CSO representatives. The primary purpose of the conference was to examine the current legal framework for foundations in Croatia against the background of European best practices and present an alternative draft Law on Foundations, which was prepared by a working group of Croatian lawyers. ECNL provided technical assistance to the drafters in developing the draft law.
