Conference on citizen participation in Belgrade

26-06-2009
Representatives of more than 100 NGOs dealing with minority and disabled rights issues participated in a conference.

On June 24, 2009, in collaboration with Civic Initiatives (CI), ECNL co-hosted a conference on an enabling framework for citizen participation in Serbia. The distinguished speakers at the conference included the Ombudsman of the Republic of Serbia, the Head of the Office for Access to Public Information, a member of Parliament, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Labor and the Council for Regulatory Reforms.

ECNL’s Dragan Golubovic’s presentation focused on major features of the revised Draft Code of Citizen Participation in Public Policy, which was recently approved by the Conference of International NGOs of the Council of Europe – and how it can impact on creating an enabling framework for citizen participation in Serbia.

The conference was organized as a part of EIDHR-funded project: “Strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations to participate in shaping, implementation and monitoring of public policies” which is implemented by ECNL and CI.
