ECNL response to the public consultation on the Review of the Financial Regulation

30-12-2009
In preparing this submission, through in-person inquiries and an online flash survey ECNL reached out to approximately 50 NPOs from several member states and beyond the EU in order to explore their priority issues regarding EU funding.

On December 18, ECNL submitted its Response to the Public Consultation on the Review of the Financial Regulation.

In preparation for the submission, we did an online flash survey in November 2009. This resulted in feedback from thirty human rights and accountability watchdog organizations from the new member states. Additionally, ECNL conducted personal interviews with close to 20 NPOs from among our Europe-wide network. ECNL also cooperated with other contributors to the consultation, e.g. CONCORD and EUCLID to identify the issues of mutual concern for our networks. We hope that our contribution will help to ensure that the Community funds are spent effectively and efficiently while adhering to the principles of sound financial management, transparency and good practices. ECNL is happy to engage in any follow up discussions of the draft Financial Regulation and Implementing Rules and contribute with comments and suggestions.
