Macedonian Strategy for Collaboration with Civil Society adopted

17-06-2012
The Strategy contains the priority areas where the government will undertake action to support the development of civil society and to foster collaboration.

On June 16th the Macedonian Government adopted the Strategy for Collaboration with Civil Society (2012-2017) and the accompanying Action Plan.

Priority areas include:

  1. developed and sustainable civic sector (through enabling legal and funding environment);
  2. active involvement in defining laws, policies and processes of EU integration;
  3. economic and social development and cohesion;
  4. strengthened citizen activism and support from the community; and
  5. stronger institutional framework and practices of collaboration.

This is an important document which sets the direction for reform processes for the next few years. This is the second strategy of the Government of Macedonia, and similar documents are adopted in several countries of Europe (e.g., England, Croatia, Montenegro, Estonia, Hungary).

ECNL was the key drafter of the document and led the process of consultations, under a project supported by the European Delegation in Macedonia.
