On November 6-8, Eco-TIRAS, ECNL's local partner in Moldova, held a two-days seminar for local authorities on the issues of participation and cooperation with the not-for-profit sector. The seminar targeted fifteen representatives of local authorities and NGOs and was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Territorial Administration of Moldova. It encouraged representatives of local authorities to explore opportunities for cooperation with NGOs and added to their understanding of importance for such involvement.
A generally positive atmosphere prevailed during the seminar. Many participants were enthusiastic about the added value and potentials created by the participation of NGOs in solving local problems, such as social and enviromental issues. Experts from Moldova and from ECNL presented on areas of possible involvement and cooperation and shared examples of good practices for cooperation on the local level in Moldova and in the countries of the European Union.
The meeting was supported under ECNL's project “Strengthening the Legal Framewok for Citizen Action”, financed by the European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR).
