Study Tour for Azerbaijan governmental delegation in Budapest

04-10-2007
The study visit provided international expertise on cooperation mechanisms and European and Hungarian best practices on regulating NGO work, sources of NGO income and tax benefits and mechanisms of NGO-government cooperation.

Together with Counterpart International and International Center for Not-for-Profit Law ECNL held a study visit for an official delegation from Azerbaijan on September 23-29, 2007.

President Ilham Aliyev has recently signed a presidential Decree on the State Support for NGOs in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The decree emphasizes the necessity for increasing state support to NGOs and improving government-NGO relations. The participants took part in sessions delivered by ECNL experts and partners. They also held meetings with a range of officials from the Hungarian government and Parliament and Hungarian NGO representatives.

This study visit was made possible through the Civil Society Project, which is a United States Agency for International Development initiative and implemented by Counterpart International in partnership with the Urban Institute, the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law and ECNL.
