26-11-2008
ECNL shared findings from its ongoing research on accountability initiatives.

On November 25, 2008 the Euclid Network and Centre des Jeunes Dirigeantes de l’Economie Sociale (CJDES) are organizing an international conference "Good Third Sector Governance across Europe" in Paris. The event will be an open space for Euclid Network members and partners to define the state of art in good third sector governance - including transparency and accountability - across Europe, and define the goals for a project to identify common principles across Europe.

Ms. Anne Ferreira MEP, co-President InterParliament Group on Social Economy, will open the event and Ms. Nilda Bullain, Executive Director of ECNL will present the key trends and conclusions from its study on “Recent Public and Self-Regulatory Initiatives Improving Transparency and Accountability of Non-Profit Organisations in the European Union” commissioned by the European Commission. In the second part of the event delegates will discuss topics that arise from the presentations.

The event will close with a debate to address the differences across Europe and identify the similarities and shared goals. The discussion will aim to explore if common standards of good governance and tools for assessment and implementation across Europe are desirable and achievable goals.
