29-11-2006
ECNL focused on self-regulatory methods in the NGO sector in other countries.

On November 24, 2006, ECNL participated in a Conference on NGO Quality Standards in Ljubliana, Slovenia. Hosted by the Pravno-informacijski center nevladnih organizacij (PIC) (Legal Information Center for NGOs), the event convened approximately 40 NGO representatives, as well as government officials, to discuss how a voluntarily-adopted quality management system could enhance the accountability and performance of NGOs in Slovenia.

ECNL delivered a presentation on comparative approaches to self-regulation and quality management among NGO sectors in other countries, with a focus on North American and European examples. Other speakers included Peter Fajfar of the Ministry of Public Administration and Jadranka Jzersek Turnes of Imelda Ogilvy. In addition, representatives from AED/Croatia and SMART/Croatia spoke about the adaptation of the PQASSO system by NGOs in neighboring Croatia. Vibrant discussion followed the presentations.
