02-07-2008

ECNL launched a research to develop a study on “Recent Public and Self-Regulatory Initiatives Improving Transparency and Accountability of Non-Profit Organisations in the European Union” and is conducting assessment in the 27 EU member states and in Switzerland, Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway.

The goal of the research study is to identify and explore the volume and depth of existing government and NPO initiatives aiming to improve NPO accountability and transparency, in the 27 EU Member States and on the EU level, in order to assess the level of concern, perceived need for action and potential for success by the national governments and NPOs, as well as the EU relating to these issues.

ECNL conducted a snapshot assessment of recent and most important public and self-regulation initiatives in these countries, and is currently conducting an in-depth assessment of selected case studies. Please let us know if you are interested to learn more or contribute towards this assessment by contacting Andrea or Katerina at [email protected]

ECNL is conducting this study based on service contract with the European Commission Directorate-General of Justice, Freedom and Security.
