ECNL to speak at Global Volunteer Conference 2011

The conference theme is “Volunteering for a Sustainable Future”, and the event will look at ways to mainstream volunteerism into peace, humanitarian and development work.

ECNL's Senior Legal Advisor Katerina Hadzi-Miceva Evans will discuss the legal and policy environment affecting volunteers at a roundtable session, during the Global Volunteer Conference. The event will take place in Budapest, on 15-17 September 2011. The conference is organized by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme and the International Federation of Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

The event is organized in the framework of the marking of the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10) in 2011, which also coincides with the European Year of Volunteering. The outcome of this meeting will be a conference declaration that participants will bring back to their organizations and will also be shared during the UN General Assembly sessions and included in the Red Cross Red Crescent International Conference.
