Extension of ECNL's activities under CSSP in Macedonia

01-07-2008
The goal of the project is to support Macedonia’s civil society to become a more effective, influential, and permanent partner alongside government and businesses in shaping the country’s present and future.

ECNL will continue to support the development of an enabling framework for the Macedonian civil society under the Civil Society Strengthening Project (CSSP). CSSP, which was launched in July 2005, and was expected to end in July 2008, has been extended to last until June 30, 2010.

Through the two year extension, the project will focus on stimulating philanthropic practices and strengthening NGOs’ advocacy capacity. ECNL will continue to provide technical assistance on amendments to the CSO law, and other emerging initiatives such as improving the framework for charitable giving, tax exemptions and lobby law.

CSSP is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and managed by a consortium led by the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) that includes ECNL, Konekt, and the Macedonian Institute for Media (MIM).
