International workshop on CSO legal framework in Cavtat, Croatia

ECNL and ICNL worked closely with USAID/Croatia and DECIM on the event: helped identify experts, facilitated workshops and delivered presentations on NIS and CEE experiences.

On September 28-29, 2007 an international workshop on CSO Legal Framework was held as part of this year’s annual Donor Exchange, Coordination & Information Mechanism (DECIM) meeting. The workshop aimed to enable participants to become more acquainted with the CSO legal framework developments, trends and challenges in new EU member states, South East Europe, the CIS and Turkey with special focus on partnerships in advancing reform in the future and was titled The Role of Donor Community in Supporting the Development and Execution of the Legal Framework for Civil Society Organizations in the Countries of the Former Soviet Union, South East Europe, Turkey and the new EU Member States. DECIM is an informal coordination mechanism for donors with an active commitment to improving their support for civil society programs in the new EU member states, the Balkans, the CIS and Turkey, supported by the European Union and the World Bank. It gathers leading multilateral and bilateral donor agencies as well as private foundations.
