The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) organized a Public Private Expert Workshop on Preventing the Abuse of Non-Profit Organizations for Terrorist Financing on September 11 in Vienna. The Economic and Environmental Activities and the Action against Terrorism Unit of the OSCE hosted the event in partnership with the Charity Commission for England and Wales and the Basel Institute on Governance.
The workshop was well attended, with a total of 155 participants from 39 OSCE participating States and Partners for co-operation, as well as experts from 13 international structures and representatives of 21 civil society and business organizations. The workshop was organized in follow-up to two OSCE Conferences on Public-Private Partnerships in Countering Terrorism, which had beenm held in 2007 and 2008 at the initiative of the United States of America and the Russian Federation.
