The event aimed to ensure wider participation of the nongovernmental sector, volunteers, public institutions and other stakeholders in order to contribute towards the Strategy's finalization into improved and sustainable document.

On March 12, ECNL and its local partner Association Konekt, in cooperation with the Macedonian Ministry of Labor and Social Politics hosted the final public debate in Skopje on the Strategy for promotion and development of volunteerism 2010 – 2015 before it is submitted to the Government of Macedonia.

In 2009, Ministry of Labor and Social Politics initiated a process of drafting Strategy for promotion and development of volunteerism. As part of the technical support to the Ministry of Labor, in the framework of the Civil Society Strengthening Project, implemented by consortium led by the Institute for Sustainable Communities and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with a purpose to ensure wider participation of the stakeholders, nine public workshops have been organized throughout Macedonia. Based on the recommendations from the workshops, working group was established which finalized the Strategy and prepared the Plan for implementation (Action Plan).
