The roundtable discussion provided a forum for key CSOs leaders of current volunteer initiatives to present their activities, identify the current needs and opportunities regarding volunteering including the challenges in the existing legal framework.
ECNL and the Center for International Development (CIRa) hosted a roundtable discussion on the needs, challenges and opportunities in the field of volunteerism and legal framework issues affecting volunteering in Macedonia. The event was organized under the Civil Society Strengthening Project, implemented by the Institute for Sustainable Communities and funded by USAID/Macedonia.The event was organized in Skopje, on June 21, 2006.
Participants discussed possible ways to coordinate the existing initiatives and undertake next steps regarding:
- ways to promote the concept of voluntarism in Macedonia and
- initiating changes of the legal framework or drafting a new law on voluntarism considering the experiences in other European countries and the specifics of the Macedonian legal framework.
