The conference explored two issues in depth: economic activities and the status of public benefit organizations.
On March 11, ECNL organized a Seminar on the Macedonian Draft Law on Associations and Foundations (NGO Law) in Skopje.
The overall goal of the event was to strengthen the potential of Macedonian NGOs to take advantage of the new opportunities in the law and improve their sustainability. Specific objectives included:
- To inform participants (activist and lawyers) about the upcoming changes in the NGO law and the way it will affect their work;
- To increase knowledge about the issues of economic activities and PBO status, from theoretical (comparative and domestic) and practical perspective;
- To initiate steps among participants to develop plans for undertaking or restructuring engagement in economic activities;
- To raise awareness about necessary law reform issues (specifically tax laws) needed to ensure optimal use of the economic activities and PBO status.
The seminar was organized within the framework of the Macedonia Civil Society Strengthening (CSSP) project supported by USAID and ISC Macedonia.
