About the Position
Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Operations (DoFO), the Finance Manager is responsible for all aspects of financial management of the organisation’s programs, working collaboratively to ensure compliance with ECNL internal policies and procedures as well as donor regulations. The Finance Manager is responsible for all financial functions, including accounting, payment processes, budgeting, financial reporting and grant financial management and compliance, and assists management in financial decision making.
The main areas of responsibility include:
Day-to-day maintenance of financial functions.
- Ensure that appropriate finance systems are maintained, and that all procedures and controls are implemented;
- Ensure that all transactions are properly accounted for;
- Supervising Finance Assistant;
- Taking a leading role in implementing ECNL’s finance and project management system, knowledge of Exact Online is required;
- Manage and reconcile bank accounts;
- Cash management;
- Monitor cash-flow, and ensure that sufficient funds are always available in the bank;
- Prepare the monthly financial accounting and project reports at the end of each month;
- Prepare monthly management reports at the end of each month;
- Maintenance of accounting records and documentation;
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and accounts to donors, as requested;
- Provide any other financial information, as requested, and respond to any other financial queries;
- Liaise regularly with budget holders;
- Assist any audit undertaken;
- Provide support to the ECNL team, and work closely with them to ensure that financial information is accurate and up to date;
- Support team in development of tenders, budgets and making financial decisions re program budgets;
- Oversee procurements and ensure compliance with organizational and donor policies on procurement;
- Continue to develop improvements in the finance system, as necessary.
Requirements:
- Chartered Accountant (RA) certification or equivalent degree in accounting;
- Knowledge of Exact Online accounting and project management system;
- Fluent in Dutch and in English.
