Institutional funding is core to the resilience and independence of civil society organisations (CSOs). It also allows them to respond to issues during emergencies quicker and more efficiently by providing more flexibility and stability to the organisations.
ECNL’s overview on these funding opportunities contains selected information on public funding mechanisms adopted in Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The comparative examples in the paper seek to support partners in Ukraine in their efforts to improve public funding mechanisms. However, the good approaches on how national and local governments can support CSOs through these mechanisms is relevant for other country contexts, as well.
