Civil society groups relentlessly work on human rights, peace building and humanitarian aid to help respond to the ongoing aggression against Ukraine. In response to the rising number of requests to find best avenues to do so, ECNL, in cooperation with its partners PILnet and DLA Piper, prepared a summary comparative table on critical information regarding CSO registration and operation in selected European countries in the region. The summary table covers issues such as:
- Eligibility requirements for the founders, including any specific requirements for foreign nationals;
- Organisational banking, including how to open a bank account and related requirements;
- Limitations to receiving foreign funding.

This comparative table is a summary of a larger database of different country profiles on legal frameworks for civil society organisations developed by ECNL and its partners. In parallel, ECNL and PILnet are also soon launching information on organisational banking in selected European countries.
The table is updated continuously so please come back for more information.
If you have additional information to share or require further details about these or other countries, please contact us at: [email protected]
Disclaimer: The purpose of the comparative table is not to give legal advice, but to provide interested persons with access to informative material on CSO registration. Recognising that CSO laws change, and interpretations of local laws vary, ECNL is not liable for any differences or inaccuracies.
