Twelve Macedonian CSOs have been awarded two-year grants by the US Government. The grants are being awarded under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Civil Society Strengthening Project (CSSP).
The CSOs will undergo a state-of-the-art capacity building process aimed at organizational development and effective advocacy, and individualized mentoring and tailored training. The aim is to help them achieve a new level of performance and professionalism to positively influence the sector as a whole and to deliver meaningful results to their constituents on the issues that affect citizens’ quality of life.
US Ambassador to Macedonia Gillian Milovanovic delivered a keynote address at the signing ceremony on 14 February at the Skopje Fair MBC Business Hall. In her speech Ambassador Milovanovic expressed her hope that the Macedonian Government and Parliament will adopt the amendments to the Law on Citizens' Associations and Foundations soon, and that Macedonia will provide tax benefits for CSOs.
ECNL is partner in the consortium of this project, led by the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), which also includes the Center for Institutional Development (CIRa), and the Macedonian Institute for Media (MIM).
