Existing legislation regarding one percent allocations modified in Hungary

23-06-2008
The amendments are introduced in response to the need that taxpayers should be informed whether their designations have reached the beneficiaries.

The Hungarian Parliament has enacted amendments to the 1% law. Up until now taxpayers have only been notified if there was a problem with their designation. In the future however everyone can get a feedback on what has happened to his 1%.

According to the amendment, citizens submitting their tax return electronically will be automatically notified if their designation has been received by the beneficiary CSO. Those filing their tax return in hard copy might also receive an electronic confirmation if they require this from the tax authority through the state's official web portal. The modification will hopefully contribute to the increase of 1% designations: in recent years taxpayers have designated only half of the amount possible to CSOs.
