The International Committee on Fundraising Organizations (ICFO) had its Annual General Meeting in Amsterdam on the 24th and 25th April 2009. The meeting was co-hosted by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce and Centraal Bureau Fondsenwerving (CBF), the Dutch member of ICFO.
As an umbrella organization of national charity monitoring agencies, ICFO’s purpose is to ensure that fundraising for charitable purposes is being organized and performed with integrity and consistent with established national and international standards, and that the administration of the collected funds is performed with excellence and transparency. ICFO and its members seek to encourage donor confidence in the non-profit sector.
The main theme of the public part of ICFO’s AGM 2009 was “Building Donor Trust in Cross-Border Philanthropy”, i.e. with a special focus on new international transparency mechanisms and on the future development of cross-border fundraising in the European Union after the EU Court of Justice has passed its sentence in the “Persche” case.
